About me

My journalism has appeared in The New York TimesThe Boston GlobeRunner's WorldBudget TravelPublishers WeeklyPoets and Writers magazine, and other publications.

My short fiction has appeared in the Kenyon Review, Indiana Review, Tampa Review, the Massachusetts Review, Ninth Letter, The Masters Review, Calyx, and was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. I won the Tampa Review’s Danahy Prize, the Ninth Letter Prize in Fiction, the Women Who Write International Short Prose Contest, and a Massachusetts Cultural Council individual artist grant. I have been a member of the Community of Writers at Squaw Valley, and a resident at the Vermont Studio Center and MassMOCA.

I was an award-winning writer and producer for WGBH in Boston, working on well-known PBS programs such as American Experience, Masterpiece Theatre, Mystery, Antiques Roadshow, and This Old House.

A graduate of the MFA program at Columbia University, I am currently an associate teaching professor in the department of English and Communication at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
